Director of Ecological Design
As the PLACE Alliance Director of Ecological Design and Associate Principal of PLACE Alliance’s Northeast branch, Andy’s expertise in integrating ecological function with the built environment promotes the resilient and healthy placemaking that lies at the heart of all our work. His professional experience since 1999 has earned him a broad knowledge base in planning, landscape architecture, and ecology, allowing him to guide clients to economically feasible and environmentally conscious design solutions. Andy’s personal belief that sound science informs the best design is evident throughout his work from thorough and innovative site analysis to interdisciplinary collaboration on multi-firm project teams. His projects range from residential design to 300-acre mixed-use developments focusing on stormwater systems, natural hydrologic systems, wetland restoration, mitigation, and replication, open space trail networks, wildlife habitat enhancement areas, and integrative human experiences of nature and wildlife.
Andy carries the PLACE Alliance commitment to an inclusive design process throughout all his work, with emphasis on charette-based design that brings environmental awareness to the heart of each project and facilitates project design and development at the intersection of community needs and environmental integrity.
